Electronic Medical Record @ University of Iowa

  • Electronic Medical Records in the Interprofessional Classroom

emrU is an exciting new interprofessional project housed within the Carver College of Medicine and utilized in collaboration with the other Health Science Colleges and Programs.

This project brings a premier Electronic Medical Record (EMR) environment to the classroom, where it will be utilized as an educational tool within the curriculum and to facilitate interprofessional education. It will provide students and instructors alike the opportunity to login before, during and after class to an EMR system with model patients. Students can interact with the medical record as a clinician to review a patient’s medical history and result reports, document a visit and place orders for medications and procedures.

The emrU project will be a cornerstone of interprofessional education at Iowa; facilitating mock clinics and team-based care in a interprofessional environment.
