The Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship Program at the University of Iowa’s Carver College of Medicine provides a highly select group of medical students a year-long research experience that introduces them to the physician-scientist career path. Matched with mentors who are leading clinical investigators and researchers in their fields, UI Doris Duke Scholars become a part of a thriving medical research enterprise that ranks among the top in NIH funding for public institutions.
Iowa’s DDCRF research projects span the range of medical disciplines and take place in a variety of settings including clinics, inpatient units and laboratories. Students also participate in activities designed specifically for the Doris Duke Fellowship and are given the opportunity to take UI coursework relating to their research.
More than 60 medical students have participated in the UI Doris Duke program since its inception and have come from more than 30 different medical schools nationwide.
