Research Summary

Dr. Sigmund's research interests focus on mechanisms of blood pressure regulation by the renin-angiotensin system and the transcription factor PPAR-γ. He utilizes a combination of molecular biological, genetic and physiological approaches in his research. Dr. Sigmund addresses many hypotheses with the generation of unique transgenic and knockout models of cardiovascular diseases including hypertension and arteriosclerosis.
