Dr. De Young's professional activities all center around the morphologic assessment of patient tissues utilizing a variety of platforms and techniques, all directed toward achieving more precision/accuracy in diagnosis and/or determining prognosis. The majority of the work centers on protein immunohistochemistry, although molecular techniques are also applied. There is strong interest in neoplasms arising from the connective tissues, but other areas of interest include prostate, breast, and lung. Dr. De Young is also very interested in working with trainees and junior faculty from both a diagnostic/educational but also investigative point of view. An additional area of interest is processes in anatomic pathology and how to utilize them to better insure quality and safety of patient care.
