Dr. Shusterman’s research interests focus on the development of new noninvasive diagnostic approaches and systems for dynamical tracking of neuro-autonomic and cardiovascular activities. These include methods and technologies for the analysis of nighttime autonomic effects on cardiac electrophysiology, respiration, and initiation of cardiac arrhythmias. To analyze the behavior of complex physiological systems, he applies computational modeling, signal processing, and systems engineering approaches. Currently, in collaboration with Dr. Barry London and Dr. Xiaodong Zhu, he is developing new methods for tracking electromechanical activity of the heart using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and high-fidelity electrophysiological monitoring.
