Research Summary

Studies of the role of vasopressin in regulating the circulation in certain pathophysiologic states. -Studies of neurogenic regulation of the circulation in heart failure. -Studies of vasomotor defects in patients with postural hypotension. -Studies of effects of a number of vasoactive agents on central and peripheral vaso-motor pathways, regional blood vessels and distribution of blood flow. The agents include catecholamines, prostaglandins, and vasoactive peptides, notably vasopressin. -Studies of acetylcholine biosynthesis In Vivo and In Vitro in normal and hyper-trophied hearts of guinea pigs. -Studies of presynaptic regulation of cardiac and peripheral sympathetic neural function by cholinergic and adrenergic mechanisms.
