    We offer a 12-month postgraduate Physician Assistant and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner Fellowship Program that is linked to the only Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency Program in the state of Iowa. As a cardiothoracic PA or ARNP fellow you will have the opportunity to specialize in the field of cardiothoracic surgery while working alongside physician residents and seasoned clinicians at one of the top medical centers in the country.

    Our fundamental philosophy is to:

    • Train cardiothoracic Physician Assistants and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners with the core competencies and skills sets allowing them to practice in any adult or pediatric surgical setting, including OR, and inpatient (SICU, PICU)
    • Provide flexibility in training to meet individualized learning needs
    • Foster academic cardiothoracic surgery through scientific discovery, expertise in cardiothoracic surgery subspecialties, and peer-to-peer learning

    We are accepting applications for January 1, 2016. The application deadline is October 31, 2015. The department will consider off-cycle applicants, please contact Kim Horras.

    3. Summarize your training background, areas of particular strength and interest, and a brief description of how you would hope to utilize and apply your fellowship training.
