Introduction

The Carver College of Medicine is accredited to provide category 1 (CME) credit by the national Accreditation Council of Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). The ACCME now requires that we have a procedure in place to monitor regularly scheduled conferences to ensure compliance with all ACCME Elements and Policies. Please use our Check List to make sure you understand the requirements and will be able to follow all the necessary procedures.

All of the documents used in the planning, application, audit and the renewal process may be delivered to CME by any of the following methods:

Honoraria Policy This policy must be adhered to for guest speakers.

Written Agreement for Commercial Support This form must be filled out and signed every time a manufacturer of commercial health care products contributes financial support to any of your regularly scheduled conferences. This support includes meals and refreshments. Keep the completed and signed Agreements in your files.

Faculty Disclosures for Regularly Scheduled Conferences Every speaker and planning committee member is now required to disclose relevant financial relationships before they present or participate in the planning of a CME activity.

Disclosure Database Login

The Course Director must review disclosures and resolve conflicts of interest for speakers before they present. Please make sure all your speakers and progam planners receiveContent Validation Guidelines to use in preparation of their talk.

Script for Verbal Disclosure This is a sample script that speakers and instructors can use to verbally disclose their financial relationships and/or mention of non-FDA-approved products. Course directors and moderators can use the script to disclose their own financial relationships and those of their planning group members.

A written handout for attendess with disclosure information for all speakers and program planners can be used instead of verbal disclosure. Course Director Verification PLEASE NOTE: THIS FORM IS TO BE COMPLETED BY THE DIRECTOR OF THE CME PROGRAM ONLY - NOT THE SPEAKERS. This form is to be signed by the course director, confirming that personal financial disclosures were reviewed prior to each session and conflicts of interest were resolved. This form (to be submitted at the end of the approval period) also confirms that disclosures were made to attendees.

Course Director Review- completed annually after the series is complete.

Course Director Verification

Attendance Tracking -submitted anually upon completion of the series. The format must be the attached Excel Spreadsheet in order to be uploaded to the CME Tracker database. If the Excel format is not utilized processing of credit may be delayed.
