ADHD

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADHD is a neurobiological disorder. This means that some chemicals in the brain are not working the right way and that causes symptoms of ADHD. Kids with ADHD have trouble with attention, impulse control, and a high activity level. Kids with ADHD have problems with:

  • Fidgeting or squirming
  • Remaining seated
  • Getting distracted
  • Waiting for turns
  • Staying on task with chores, school work, or play
  • Playing quietly
  • Excessive talking
  • Paying attention
  • Doing things without considering the consequences

If you think your child may have ADD or ADHD, the Center for Disabilities and Development can help you with a diagnosis through our ADHD Service.
