The Social Services staff at the Center for Disabilities
and Development take part in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. We:
- Provide emotional support and guidance to strengthen family ties.
- Work closely with our Patient/Family
Representative to ensure that services are individual- and family-centered.
- Consult with other members of an individual's team on issues related
to psychosocial needs and cultural diversity.
- Tell families about resources in their communities.
- Consult with community providers and maintain a close working relationship.
- Identify gaps in community resources and assist communities to develop
needed resources.
- Educate social work students as well as those from other disciplines
about the role of social work.
- Promote and participate in research.
