Lecture Schedule

  All students will participate in a small discussion group with a faculty member serving as a facilitator. Each week a research paper will be assigned and each paper will be made available 5-7 days in advance of the discussion section. Each paper will be made available as an Adobe PDF on the course web site.

Small Group Facilitators

  Students are expected to read and evaluate each assigned paper in advance and prepare a short report that will be due at the start of the discussion section each week. No late reports will be accepted.

Instructors

  Each report will be worth a total of 5 points as outlined below. These written reports will be a maximum length of 1 page (single-spaced).

    State the major hypothesis tested in the paper
             
    3 points        
    Select a key experiment presented in the research paper that tests the hypothesis and breifly discuss each of the following:
    1. What were the controls for that particular experiment and were they adequate?
    2. How does it test the hypothesis?
    3. What do the authors infer from these data?
