The Program's mission is to advance a rigorous understanding of human health and healthcare through knowledge gained from bioethics, the medical humanities, and related disciplines. Program faculty pursue this mission through teaching, research, scholarship, and service. We value the diverse perspectives that scholars from many fields bring to complex questions involving the health sciences and health professions. The Program welcomes opportunities for collaboration that help it accomplish this mission within the Carver College of Medicine, the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and the wider University of Iowa community.
