While we trust that Iowa's medical education and learning environment will be of the highest quality, we also recognize that our students and trainees may face unique challenges in their educational and professional pursuit. The educational experience often includes the challenge of a sense of well being, building a sense of home and community in Iowa City, while making critical career decisions regarding specialty choice and practice plans.
Our students could benefit from an opportunity to interact with University of Iowa alumni physicians, researchers and health care practitioners -- voices of encouragement from those who have taken the path before them. We believe that the challenges faced by our students represent an opportunity of need that can be filled by capable alumni and friends of the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine who, acting in the role of mentors, can provide support and encouragement.
Whether it's inviting a student into your home for a Sunday dinner, exchanging an e-mail of encouragement, visiting with a student during a rotation in your area, or speaking to a group of medical students on campus, we hope that we can count on your support as we initiate this UI Carver College of Medicine Alumni Mentorship Initiative by adding your name to the directory of mentors.
The UI Carver College of Medicine Alumni
Mentorship Directory has been created for these
purposes.
