Amy Guimaraes-Young successfully passed her Ph.D. examination

Amy Guimaraes-Young successfully passed her Ph.D. examination on Thursday, April 7, 2016, in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology. Her thesis title was "Gynecological Tissue Homeostasis and Tumorigenesis Studies Using Mouse Models". Members of her thesis committee were chair, Adam Dupuy, Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology; mentor, Michael Goodheart from Oncology, Frederick Domann from Radiation Research and John Engelhardt, Robert Cornell and Charles Yeaman from the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology.

Amy’s research focused on studying the genetic drivers of endometrial and vulvar cancer pathogenesis. Amy received her B.S. from the University of Notre Dame and an M.S. from Georgetown University. Amy began her MSTP studies at the Carver College of Medicine in 2009. Immediate future plans include continuing her M.D. training at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
