Surgery nurses honored among '100 Great Iowa Nurses'
Thursday, May 23, 2013
During National Nurses Week, four nurses within the Department of Surgery were honored on the list of "100 Great Iowa Nurses" for 2013:
Those recognized this year from the department are: Kristel Wetjen, Joshua Petersen, Trisha Godard-Shepherd and Jeanette Wigim.
The Iowa Nurses Association, Iowa Nurses Foundation, Iowa Hospital Association, and University of Iowa College of Nursing have partnered to create this event that celebrates nursing by honoring 100 nurses from around the state each year. Colleagues, patients, doctors, friends, and family members submit nominations.
UI Hospitals and Clinics received the prestigious Magnet Hospital Designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center in 2004, becoming the first hospital in Iowa to earn the international award. It then became the first hospital in the state to be recognized a second time as a Magnet hospital in 2008.
Congratulations to the honorees, and thank you to all of the nurses at UI Hospitals and Clinics for their hard work and dedication to outstanding patient care.
