    Mission & Goals

    The Baccalaureate Program in Radiation Sciences at the University of Iowa serves as an educational center in the state of Iowa thereby offering the only program in the state with a multicompetent major in radiologic technology, diagnostic medical sonography, and radiation therapy. The program, along with the University of Iowa, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine promotes educational excellence by:

    • Offering a broad spectrum of curriculum
    • Promoting a foundation for continuing professional and educational development

    Objectives

    1. Provide an educational background that will enable graduates to more easily adapt to the increasing sophistication of the profession of radiation sciences.
    2. Prepare graduates for practice in a wide variety of health care settings.
    3. Prepare students for entrance into graduate level programs.
    4. Promote retention of students and graduates within the State of Iowa by providing an in-state opportunity for a baccalaureate program.
