Minimum: |
5 mL blood in lavender or yellow top, 1 mL bone marrow aspirate in lavender or yellow top, or 3 cu mm tissue. Tissue may be fresh frozen or paraffin embedded formalin fixed. Body fluids in purple or yellow top tubes, Lymph node aspirates in RPMI. | ||

Interpretive Data: |
Used as an adjunct in initial diagnosis or as a monitor of minimal residual disease. When used as a monitor of minimal residual disease, current samples must be analyzed in parallel with a previous diagnostic sample. | ||
Comments: |
Transport fresh tissue on dry ice. Blood, bone marrow and lymph aspirates should be transported on ice. | ||
Test Limitations: |
Specimens fixed in BS fixative are unsuitable for testing. | ||

Multiplex PCR followed by Fluorescence Capillary Electrophoresis | ||
Sample Processing: |
Label transport tube with two patient identifiers, date and time of collection. Relevant clinical information must be submitted with specimen in order to provide correct interpretation of test results. Specimen source is required on requisition for processing. Tissue specimen should be frozen or processed as a formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue. Lavender tube is sent as whole blood, no processing necessary. | ||
Sample Storage: |
Blood/Bone Marrow - Room temperature or ambient storage. Tissue Specimen - Freeze immediately and store frozen or send Formalin-fixed paraffin embedded blocks. | ||
Transport Instructions: |
Blood - Do not freeze, ship at ambient temperature. Ship express mail with overnight delivery. Frozen Tissue - Ship frozen on dry ice. Ship express mail with overnight delivery. Formalin-fixed paraffin embedded blocks ship at ambient temperature. | ||
