PDA version of the Pathology Laboratory Services Handbook
To view the Laboratory Services Handbook on your handheld device using the Palm OS or PocketPC you will need the following files and software:
System Requirements for Palm: A Palm OS device with 1.8 mbytes free memory (260 K for the Plucker application and around 1.5 mbytes for the Handbook data file).
Step 1. The palm version of the current Laboratory Services Handbook - Download updated:07:14:08
This file will be periodically updated to match the Web version of the handbook.
Decompress the file and install path_handbook.pdb onto your PDA.
Step 2. The required software to view the Laboratory Services Handbook plucker-1.6.1.zip
Decompress the file. Install the files viewer_en.prc and SysZLib.prc.*
The Handbook file can then be viewed by accessing the new Icon on your PDA labeled 'Plucker'.
Pocket PC version of the Pathology Laboratory Services Handbook
You need to go to this link: http://vade-mecum.sourceforge.net/
Read Getting started and install Vade Mecum. Vade Mecum reads plucker pda files so they can be installed on a PocketPC
You will then need to perform Step 1. above.
If you have problems decompressing "path_handbook.pdb.gz" you may need to install Winzip
*Plucker is free, well reviewed, open source software. It is a highly efficient offline HTML viewer for the Palm OS. Although we have not experienced any trouble using it and are not familiar with difficulties other users may have had with it, we cannot accept responsibility for loss of data or other damage due to its use on your PDA.
If you want more information on this software, contact http://www.plkr.org/index.plkr.
- If you experience any difficulty with use of the handbook or with this software please contact the Pathology Webmaster. We need your feedback.
We would welcome any other suggestions or comments.
| PLEASE NOTE: Updates to the Laboratory Services Handbook and the PDA version of the handbook occur monthly. It is important that you download the handbook palm version and reinstall the file on your PDA on a monthly basis to have accurate up-to-date information. |
