Minimum:
Submit a single sample from one stool sample collected in FOBT Sample 
Collection Device.

Collection cartridges (#21359) Kit Fecal Occult Blood Mailer Polymedco 
available from Hospital Stores, Nursing Special Order Catalog.
Rejection Criteria:
Samples not received within 7 days.  Fecal specimens not placed in the 
FOBT sample collection device (bottle).
Testing Schedule:
Tuesdays and Fridays, received in the
laboratory by 1200 (noon), excluding holidays.
For additional services, contact Clinical Pathology 
Resident on-call at pager #3404.
Analytic Time:
Out by 1700 Tuesday and Friday.

Negative
Comments:
Testing should not be performed with actively bleeding hemorrhoids or 
during menstruation.
Methodology:
The automated fecal occult blood test detects the presence of human 
hemoglobin by immunoassay using a photometric reading of the presence 
of an antibody-antigen complex.
