Collection Medium:
Lavender top tube (EDTA)
Alternate
Collection Media:
Pink top tube (EDTA sprayed), CSF container
Minimum:
Preferred minimum: 4 mL lavender (EDTA) or pink (K2EDTA), or CSF
Absolute minimum: 1 mL plasma or CSF in a sterile container
Pediatric minimum: 0.25 mL plasma or CSF in a sterile container (Less
volume may decrease sensitivity of assay.)

Reference Range:
Negative - Enterovirus nucleic acid not detected by RT-PCR
Positive - Enterovirus nucleic acid detected by RT-PCR
Interpretive Data:
A negative result does not rule out the presence of PCR inhibitors in
the patient specimen or Enterovirus nucleic acid in concentrations
below the level of detection of the assay.
