Specimen:
Fecal
Collection Medium:
Feces specimen, random stool container
Minimum:
5 g stool in a clean, leak-proof container
Rejection Criteria:
Samples preservatives other than Cary-Blair.
Delivery Instructions:
Submit specimen to laboratory as soon as possible after collection.
Testing Schedule:
24 hrs/day, 7 days a week, including holidays.
Analytic Time:
4 working days
Reference Range:
Negative
Test
Limitations:
A positive result is indicative of the presence of lactoferrin, a 
marker for fecal leukocytes.  A negative result does not exclude the 
presence of intestinal inflammation.
