Minimum:
Adult preferred minimum:  .5 mL plasma or serum
Adult absolute minimum:  0.3 mL plasma or serum
Pediatric minimum:  0.1 mL plasma or serum
Rejection Criteria:
Severely lipemic, contaminated, heat-inactivated, or hemolyzed 
specimens.
Delivery Instructions:
Submit specimen to laboratory as soon as possible after collection.
Analytic Time:
1 week
Reference Range:
1.7 EV or less: Negative - No significant level of IgA antibody to H. 
pylori detected.

1.8-2.2 EV: Equivocal - Repeat testing in 10-14 days may be helpful.

2.3 EV or greater: Positive - IgA antibody to H. pylori detected, 
suggestive of active infection.
Test
Limitations:
Helicobacter pylori IgG and IgA antibody seroconversion occur together 
after 60 days. Samples which have a high titer of both IgG and IgA 
antibodies to H. pylori in symptomatic individuals may be considered to 
represent an active infection. However, a positive H. pylori IgA result 
can only suggest active infection and should be confirmed by bacterial 
isolation or other diagnostic testing.
