Minimum:

Submit only 1 of the following specimens:

Draw 2 - 6 mL pink K2EDTA to yield 3.0 mL Plasma in a lavender-top 
tube, after patient has been receiving mexiletine for at least 3 days 
and just before administration of the next dose.

Draw 2 - 6 mL red to yield 3.0 mL Serum in a red-top tube, after 
patient has been receiving mexiletine for at least 3 days and just 
before administration of the next dose.

Rejection Criteria:

Gel separator tubes

Delivery Instructions:

Deliver to laboratory immediately after collection.

Analytic Time:

3 working days

Reference Range:

Therapeutic concentration:  0.75-2.00 ug/mL (trough value)
Toxic concentration:  >2.0 ug/mL (trough value)

Comments:

NOTE: Indicate specimen on request form and label specimen 
appropriately.
