Limitations:
Mutations at codons 204 and 180 of the HBV DNA polymerase gene are 
associated with a diminished response to the antiviral drug lamivudine. 
For successful analysis, specimens should have a HBV viral load of at 
least 500 copies/mL.  Patient must have viral load within 30 days for 
testing to be performed.
