1.0 mL serum in a red top tube

Reference Range:


Thyroglobulin Antibody Screen     < 4.0 IU/mL

Thyroglobulin, Tumor Marker       > or = 16 years: < or = 33 ng/mL

Athyrotic individuals normally have human thyroglobulin values <5 
ng/mL.


Comments:


All specimens are screened for presense of autoantibody to 
thryoglobulin.


Test
Limitations:


Specimens with thyroglobulin concentrations >250,000 ng/mL may give 
falsely lower results.

Serum markers are not specific for malignancy, and values may vary by 
method.


Methodology:


Immunoenzymatic assay.  All specimens are screened for presense of 
autoantibody to thryoglobulin.
