Friday, August 01, 2014
Nancy Andreasen, MD, PhD, Andrew H. Woods Chair of Psychiatry, has received national attention for the culmination of her decades-long research into the connections between mental illness and creativity. Her study of the physical differences in the brains of writers, specifically Kurt Vonnegut, and other highly accomplished individuals resulted in "Secrets of the Creative Brain," a cover story for The Atlantic and an interview with Arise News. Andreasen was also featured in a PBS documentary, "The Iowa Study of Creative Genius," on July 25.
