Ponseti International to host global webinar for clubfoot treatment

Ponseti International will be hosting a webinar for physicians from all around the world to discuss complex clubfoot treatment on November 19, 2013. Jose Morcuende, MD, PhD, Professor of orthopaedics and rehabilitation at the University of Iowa and Shafique Pirani, MD, Chair of the Ponseti International Medical Advisory Board and clinical professor of orthopaedic surgery, Division of Pediatric Orthopaedics, at the University of British Columbia will present the webinar as leading experts in clubfoot treatment today.

Currently, there are over 100 physicians registered for the webinar from 37 different countries. This is the most ambitious training and education session yet by Ponseti International. Ignacio Ponseti, the creator of the Ponseti Method for clubfoot treatment, participated in web conferences himself in 2009 as a way to educate physicians around the globe.

Complex clubfoot, the webinar’s focus, is an advanced form of clubfoot that is usually caused by initial inadequate treatment. In many low-resource countries, physicians simply don’t have access to the best way to treat clubfoot, which can then lead to complex clubfoot.

The global scale of Ponseti International’s upcoming webinar will aim to further spread the Ponseti Method and prevent the substandard treatment that causes complex clubfoot.
