    Awards and Honors 

    SGIM Midwest Region President
    Congratulations to Dr. Michele Fang on her appointment as President-Elect of the Midwest Region of the Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM). Dr. Fang will assume her role at the conclusion of the 2014 Annual Midwest Regional SGIM Meeting on September 5th. In this role, Dr. Fang will participate in regional officer activities. Upon assuming the role of President following the completion of the 2015 Annual Midwest Regional SGIM Meeting, Dr. Fang will accept responsibility for annual regional activities including planning the annual regional meeting as well as serve as a member of the Board of Regional Leaders. Following the completion of her term as President, Dr. Fang will assume the role of Past-President in which she will serve as the Chair of the Leadership Nominating Committee as well as serve as an advisor to regional activities. Please join us in extending congratulations to Dr. Fang.

    2014 White Coat Ceremony Key Note Speaker
    Dr. Ann Broderick was selected as the Key Note Speaker for the 2014 White Coat Ceremony on Friday, August 15th. Dr. Broderick’s address, “Putting the Patient Back Together Again” was part of the annual ceremony for new medical students beginning their career at the University of Iowa College of Medicine.     Associate Chair for Education

    Dr. Joe Szot assumed the role of Associate Chair for Education in the Department of Internal Medicine on August 15th. In his role, Dr. Szot will continue to serve as an Associate Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Training Program
