Mohr named recipient of Injury Prevention Research Center grant

Nicholas Mohr, MD, clinical assistant professor of emergency medicine, has been named the recipient of grant funding from the Iowa Injury Prevention Research Center.
The $25,000 in grant funding will fund a pilot clinical trial to understand the role of prehospital oral decontamination with an antiseptic mouthwash on ventilator-associated pneumonia in trauma patients.
Founded in 1990, the UI Injury Prevention Research Center is one of ten injury "Centers of Excellence" funded by the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The primary research goal of the Iowa Injury Prevention Research Center is to control and prevent injury, especially in rural communities and focuses on interdisciplinary research to lead to effective intervention.
