Alumni Interviews:
Tammy Eichelberger,
M.P.T.
Iowa's faculty backs its strong reputation
"The University of Iowa Physical Therapy Graduate
Program is one of the best in the nation because it is so well
established. Its strong foundation comes from dedicated faculty
with diverse research interests, whose knowledge is carried over
by educating future physical therapists and physical therapist
researchers."
Tammy Eichelberger believes that it's the University of
Iowa's faculty that really give students one of the best
educations in the country. She chose the UI's Physical Therapy
program for this very reason.
"I chose the University of Iowa's Physical Therapy Graduate Program
because of its reputation of being consistently rated one of the top programs
in the country. The faculty are extremely active in the research arena, and I
knew that I would have an excellent opportunity to be mentored by many highly
regarded faculty."
Eichelberger also believes that the UI's Physical Therapy program is so
strong because of its affiliation with the University of Iowa Carver College
of Medicine and University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as well as its reputation.
She would encourage any student interested in this area to look into the UI's
program.
"The UI Physical Therapy program is one of the best in the nation because
it is so well established. Its strong foundation comes from dedicated faculty
with diverse research interests, whose knowledge is carried over by educating
future physical therapists and physical therapist researchers.
"I would tell prospective students that with such a longstanding
program, a good reputation, excellent faculty, small class size,
as well as the resources from
the Carver College of Medicine and a university teaching hospital,
you couldn't go wrong choosing the University of Iowa Physical
Therapy
Graduate Program!"
Eichelberger believes that alumni can help students in their
education by becoming mentors and sharing their knowledge.
"I would like to see alumni really make an effort to serve as mentors for
student and new graduates. By alumni sharing their knowledge gained through education
and experience, the careers of students would be greatly enhanced."
According to Eichelberger, alumni have an obligation to give
back because they themselves benefited from alumni support in their
education.
She
also believes
that alumni support enhances the quality of students' education and will
better train these students for their future careers.
"Alumni undoubtedly make many aspects of students' education possible,
from providing a scholarship or equipment, to a particular hands-on learning
experience. Giving back could provide the same opportunity for another student
and would contribute to the same quality education they received at the University
of Iowa."
